Bandos island resort had refurbishment during 2005 which saw it not only receive a stylish face lift but also extend its exiting facilities and add extra accommodation.
The look and feel of Bandos is a natural balance between casual and formal, with thatched roofs but fine tiled floors, for example. Some of the rooms in the standard and junior class have an interconnecting door for families split between several rooms.
There are a nice range of restaurants here that serve a range of quality dishes. The main bar and coffee shop are near the water, and the bar is a great place to hang out until the early hours of the morning.
The resort has made a huge effort to accommodate families, which is not common on a lot of the other islands, with a purpose-built childcare facility complete with female staff on hand to look after the children and provide babysitting in the evenings. Visitors with young children need to be aware that the lagoon tends to deepen quite quickly so be careful when allowing you kids in or near the lagoon.
There are 84 standard rooms which look out over the beach and another’ that are slightly set back. In addition there are 48 Junior suites and 48 circular-shaped Beach villas.
The Bandos resort provides a Kuda Bandos Sunset Wedding for those getting married, which features a taste of traditional island ceremony, a sunset boat ride, unique cultural costumes, Maldivian drums and traditional style and ceremony.
Thanks to the central location in the southern part of North Mal’ Atoll, Bandos dive center can offer you a variety of over 40 different dive sites which include all the well known highlights in the area such as the Banana Reef, Barracuda Giri, Victory Wreck, Paradise Rock, Rainbow Giri, Lion’s Head, Old Shark Point, and of course seasonal Manta Points like Lankan Reef and Furana North from September to December or Boduhithi Thila and Rasfaree from January to April.
The Dive Centre is a spacious facility complete with air-conditioned audio visual classrooms, library, hot water showers and spacious storage rooms. Located nearby is the Sundowners Bar for your relaxation after an invigorating dive.
