Park model mobile home living is a great way to enjoy frugal retirement . And it sure beats continuing to work to earn more money.
The last two years has been devastating to lots of retirement plans. My portfolio sure has taken a hit. Many are rethinking retirement…that in itself is not all bad.
We retired in Arizona. Arizona is home to many popular retirement park model compounds. It is a fun and very inexpensive way to retire. See, rethinking plans can uncover some nuggets.
Do not be fooled by the term “mobile”. These units are mobile usually only once…factory to park model community. That is usually it’s first and last trip.
Park model mobile homes are about frugal living…but not about cutting back. The parks in the Phoenix area…some with over 2000 units, including golf courses…remind me of summer camps for retirees. In our case that is really winter camps but the activities can be mind boggling. If you cannot find an activity you really enjoy…you are not really trying.
Many park model compound residents started out as RVers. You will find after RVing a few years you tend to visit the same places. It is a smooth transition from an RV to a park model. The smallest park model has similar dimensions, 400 square feet, to a 40 foot motorhome.
How about cost? Park models cost from $20,000 to $50,000 new and $10,000 to $20,000 used. The new ones do not include the land…the used models include the land and the furniture. This explains why two homes are in the financial reach of many. Home for the summer and Arizona or Florida in the winter.
Park model mobile home living is fun and frugal as well. It puts a winter home in reach of many. So if you are rethinking retirement put park models into the mix. If you are interested in learning more about this lifestyle, see below.
