Mombasa, whose size is about 295km2, is found in Kenya and its famous for its beaches which are popular to many local as well as international tourists from around the world. Visitors are able to go on tour to the North as well as the South Coast of Mombasa to enjoy their holiday
Situated 10km from Mombasa City, Nyali beach on the North Coast is Kenya’s most visited beach. This sultry white coral beach has vibrant spots for visitors wanting some fun and tranquil spots for introverts. The lush coconut trees and the Indian Ocean waters splattering the beach lazily, brings out a carefree unspoiled ambiance.
For those that love the water, they can engage in activities such as scuba diving, boat riding, sailing, surfing as well as canoeing at the Indian Ocean (though at a fee).
30 km on the southern side of Mombasa, another popular beach is the Diani. Diani stretches for 25km and you wouldn’t want to miss this place. The warm blue waters of the Indian Ocean caress the coral reef and the warm sun and gentle breezes make Diani a must visit location for beach lovers that have the time.
Diani beach borders the tropical rain forest that has colorful animals like the Colubus monkeys. One of the hotels that can be found around Diani beach is the Diani Beach resort.
On the north coast, we have Vipingo which is the most reclusive beach and is best for those on honeymoon and those seeking privacy. During the whale season, it’s the ideal viewing location. It’s a high class beach area with Vipingo Ridge golf course and posh residential houses. Water sports like surfing, diving, kayaking and sailing are availed for tourists. The beach is protected by magnificent coral reefs.
Watamu beach is touted as the most safest and unspoiled beaches in Mombasa. It is located on the northern side of Mombasa and is about 120km from Mombasa town. The beach is blessed with fine white sands and clear waters which is good for a relaxing beach stroll. Because the waters are clear, one is able to see marine life including fish, sharks, dolphins and turtles.
When the sun is setting, its splendor and majesty is plain for all to see. There are also activities that one can engage in at Watamu including surfing, diving and snorkeling. Accommodation around this place can be found in hotels, guest houses as well as resorts.
