Singapore has plenty to offer. An area that consists of one main island and several smaller islands and a population of just over 4 million. Impressive skyscrapers, gleaming malls contract with traditional Chinatown and Little India. A dynamic urban environment with entertainment, dining and energy. Modern well organized museums attractions and shopping provide plenty of action. For more Singapore information visit www.SingaporeEguide.com

The Youth Olympics Games Int Olympics Comm president Jacques Rogge , feeling very happy with the tv coverage and YouTube hits in so many countries with 166 broadcasters, exclaimed,”It was the 3rd most-watched item on Youtube in the world..that’s something!” . 205 Countries are participating, and newspapers and TV channels in Asia , Europe and the West caught the resounding success of the Opening Ceremony in Singapore held @ the Marina Barrage. One Australian tabloid posed,” Could we do this?”

@renez100 Yes you need to read the STATE CONTROLLED NEWSPAPER. This is in the Straits Times Aug 11–”Overstayer nabbed at Casino.” Another article whereby 5 young males are sentenced jail AND EXTRA TORTURE of beatings from 5-8 lashes for “outraging modesty’ or some crap like that. This is just what is reported I am sure there is more CANING, CANING, CANING, CANING–Constant Fanatical Abuse
Sep 15, 2010 @ 03:46:53
Reported in the state controlled papers today that a chinese national was caught overstaying his visa by three years and was sentenced by the courts with the full approval of the sadistic government to 5 months in jail – AND-
4 STROKES OF A CANE BECAUSE HE IS A MAN —
This is absolutely outrageous that this man would be tortured and FLOGGED
for this. And So this Human Rights abuse continues….

@yayfacednoob The laws are unjust and need to be changed or abolised. Flogging unjustly is biased against and applies only to males-not women -so you cannot say it is a deterrence and there are no statistics on such. What you can say is that it is a human rights abuse violation and that civilized countries do not resort to.;But sadistic Singapore does commit human rights abuses which needs to be exposed worldwide.

BORIS jOHNSON, the Mayor of London Aug 2 2010 said,”.. therefore, the answer to stop people spitting it out, and end the culture of great expectorations. We could emulate LEE KUAN YEW OF SINGAPORE , and ban all chewing gum from Britain, with the threat of several strokes of the rattan cane on the soles of anyone caught masticating in the streets.”

@sandye2100 If one has no done anything wrong in the first place, why should he/she be afraid of punishment. There is law for a reason, if one commits an offence, then he/she should be punished, and if he/she is afraid of corporal punishment, why commit the offence in the first place? These punishment are deterrence to those who want to commit offences, meaning that one will really think twice before trying anything funny in Singapore, which makes it a safe place to be..

@kohashley Arent’ you aware that the government has Flogged -(you may call it caning if you wish) thousands of men for immigration offences? This is barbaric and Human Rights groups all over the world have condemned Singapore for this. I know that the Straits Times is government controlled and censored like all the media but—Hurry– READ on the Internet before the government blocks all sites out from you.

@sandye2100 what u have said is not true! People only get corporal punishment only because they have committed an offence or crime…..we do not torture or flog people… this is just ridiculous
Sep 15, 2010 @ 11:59:07
@sgguy21 HELLO EVERYONE: We know all should follow laws everywhere BUT if they dont, they should be punished NOT TORTURED OR FLOGGED by a sexual perverted sadist. Because of the governments actions Singapore today has become a fascist state whereby draconian unjust laws, censorship, propoganda, and violent BEATINGS have become commonplace. The savage government demands complete subservience to the state and fines and arrests those that oppose it.
Human Rights abuses needing exposure.

Hi guys, lets put it this way… every country has its own laws, and a foreigner visiting any country for that matter should look at the laws and not break them i.e asking for trouble… Gladly, sadly or ironically, the sg of today is the result of all these tough sentences.
On the other hand, what would people’s comments be if we were crime ridden & unsafe? Ans : Fricker wldn’t even be here in the first place
Sep 15, 2010 @ 12:59:03
@reezymacnamara check your facts before you post. Singapore does produce their own food and water, just not in huge quantities.
Sep 15, 2010 @ 13:09:11
North Korea doesn’t even have judicial FLOGGINGS and the UN wants sanctions against them. No sanctions against Singapore would be appropriate.
Sep 15, 2010 @ 13:51:55
What is going on with this place? Are Floggings really taking place here? Are the laws for men and women different where they cannot beat women? Doesn’t Singapore know that eyes of the world are watching them with this type of brutal treatment of Oliver Fricker?
I don’t see anything right with this for this island nation.
Sep 15, 2010 @ 14:12:58
Singapore is a barbaric torture state and is absolutely condemnd by Human Rights Watch and the whole civilized world ! Dont visit this Nazi State ,you could get tortured for spitting on the ground there !!
