Each year, most of us who lawfully drive around the state of Nevada need to sort out our auto insurance renewal.
Have you ever had to make a claim on your car insurance? If you can answer yes to this question then I bet there is a good number of you that were disappointed with their auto insurer. Perhaps many of you will have had to do alot of the groundwork chasing the insurance company to get things done, some of you will probably have had to fight with your insurance company about the costs, and no doubt most of you will have found it stressful.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners report for last year shows the average car insurance premium for Nevada against the rest of the country. The average annual premium in Nevada was $1,137 while car insurance for the rest of the country was noticeably less at only $937 per vehicle.
Since car insurance is more expensive for those of us who happen to live in Las Vegas or somewhere else in Nevada, we need to make sure we get a good deal for our money.
To secure both a good policy and also to get a good deal for their money, consumers must take care and purchase an auto insurance policy that makes sense and value for them. A good policy can be considered one that meets your minimum liability as a road user and also provides other levels of cover that you require without quibbles or problems from the insurance company should you need to make a claim.
Bodily injury and property damage cover can be purchased as what is known as split-limit cover or combined single-limit cover. If you choose to pay for a combined single limit, then the figures for property damage and bodily injury are combined ie. $40,000 is the minimum (required under Nevada law) combined single limit for all property damage and bodily injury.
Comprehensive and collision cover are not strictly required by law in Las Vegas, under Nevada law but you may find that it is offered to you by your insurer. It is also not available in some cases where the condition of the vehicle or the age of the driver would prohibit the costs required ie. the person is of minimum age or the vehicle is almost worthless
You are not required to carry medical payments or uninsured/under-insured motorist cover, but all insurance companies are required by law to offer you medical payments cover of at least $1000 and uninsured/under-insured motorist cover at an amount equal to your bodily injury cover.
If you are planning to lease a car you are advised to check the lease agreement since they generally require that you have a liability cover of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident and possibly a damage cover over the lower limit of $10,000 that is required by the law in Nevada.
Which cruise line is better? Royal Caribbean or Princess?
I am looking into booking a Caribbean cruise for next year, we are looking to go in April or May, I have done alot of researach and Royal Caribbean and Princess keep coming up for the time of year and where we want to go. Any input if one out shines the other? they both seem about the same price, they go to the same stops.
We are a couple that is in our late 30′s, early 40′s we aren’t party animals but we also aren’t old folks either. We like good food, a nice drinks, some dancing, we do like casinos, if there is one onboard. We were told to definitely get a balcony room this will be our first cruise. And our first vacation with no kids. One thing we really aren’t in to, is the whole formal dinning, tuxedo’s and evening gowns, we don’t mind dressing up, skirts, dress pants, shirts, we just aren’t the formal wear kind of people.
Is one cruise line better than another?
I have been on 3 Princess cruises and about 8 Royal Caribbean cruises and in my opinion both cruise lines are great. Both have some great ships doing Caribbean itineraries. Royal Caribbean has the Freedom and Voyage Class ships doing the Caribbean out of Florida and Puerto Rico ports. I cruised on two great Princess ships in the Caribbean.
I did, however, see some differences. Both have great food but Princes foods were more into “presentation” of a pretty meal on the plate. Princess tended to be just a little more classy. Both cruise lines had a mixture of people from age 35 to about 65. Royal Caribbean ships do have more on-board activities like in-line roller skating, ice skating, the rock climbing wall, mini-golf, and some other things, depending upon the ship.
People on Royal Caribbean ships tend to be a little more casual on formal nights. But remember that the formal nights are REQUESTED ATTIRE and not REQUIRED. So on any and every night all you need to do is dress “sports or resort casual” and you will be fine. Neither cruise line will deny you entrance to the main dining room or anything else on formal nights if you decide not to dress up. So the things that you have in mind to wear will work just fine.

What is a good vacation spot for a family with teens?
We took a trip last summer to a secluded river spot where we could swim and relax. Our kids loved it. We basically had 2 miles of river to ourselves. I’d love to take them to the Caribbean since our oldest is 18 and this could possibly be our last big trip together with all 5 of us. Where can we go that the beaches are not too crowded? We are not into the resort/casino scene and want a place where we’re not competing for beach chairs with the rest of North America.
Ok you just said you dont like resorts & everyone is telling you Sandals resort, LOL.
I think you should check out Vieques or Culebra Island in Puerto Rico. They have some secluded beaches & others with very little people. The beaches are gorgeous sugar white sand & crystal water. Red Beach & Sunbay Beach in Vieques are nice & Flamenco Beach in Culebra was rated one of the best 10 in the world! Both islands have great snorkeling too. There are no large hotels, just vacation rentals (small inns, homes & villas). They both have a small town with restaraunt/bars. Vieques has wild horses too. Plus Vieques has a bioluminescent bay, the best one of only a few worldwide. It glows in the dark & you take a kayak tour . Its amazing.
