It is important to think about the material of your door as well. You can buy in steel, aluminum, fiber glass and wood. Steel is the most expensive with the highest level of security. Make sure that you buy a kit that is treated for rust. Aluminum and fiber glass are cheaper and work just fine, but are a bit more fragile so you will have to take care. Wood is by far the best looking door, coming in all different types of wood and stains. There is upkeep though in terms of painting from year to year.
Whatever the door you choose, you can do all these garage installations yourself. You can buy kits that have easy instructions and it shouldn’t take more than an afternoon.
