Copacabana a splendor beach the way it used to be from the begining where you could hear only the wind, the birds and waves. All this beauty inspired many composers to create wonderful songs that have stayed with us to this day, and seems that they will never vanish. With the intention to preserve its beauty this song was made.” An Inspiration to Preserve.” Music, Lyrics & Voice from the author.
www.facebook.com Ronaldo: He may not be the fittest player of all time but he has certainly cemented his name in the history books as one of greatest players football has ever seen. He was born in Bento Ribeiro, a poor neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Like many of his friends, he began to play football in the streets of his neighborhood knowing that his only way out of his poverty was to play football and become a professional player, little did he know that he will not only become a professional player but one the best professional players of all time in this sport. Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima (born September 18, 1976), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Italian Serie A club AC Milan. He has been nicknamed as “The Phenomenon” due to his unique style and flawless technique which made him score at will and was able to execute moves which were not seen before. Pelé named him one of the 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004. In 2007 France Football named him in their best starting 11 of all time. Ronaldo has enjoyed success at the international level as well, he won the 1994 and 2002 FIFA World Cups with Brazil. Ronaldo has won three FIFA World Player of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2002). Barbara meets up with native New Yorker Vitoria, an aspiring actress, and asks her what it’s like to be a young actor trying to make it in a huge city. Vitoria says she gets much of her inspiration from New York’s landscape, and would be happy to show Barb the sights. From the bow of the ferry heading toward the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Museum, Vitoria explains New York is the city where many people come to live their dreams and pursue their passion in the arts. In the Drama Bookshop, the girls flip through books on auditioning techniques and rehearsing. Since Barb is going to try her hand at stage acting later on, Vitoria takes her to Drama Workshop, where they do an improv exercise with a local actor.
Learn more about Larry Lansburgh here: www.ecospeakers.com In this video, Lansburgh, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, introduces you to his presentation on the “Dream People of the Amazon.” It is about how a small group of indigenous people, the Achuar of the Ecuadorian Amazon, came up against the money and power of multinational oil companies and won. Seven trips into the Amazon over three years, living in Achuar villages, trekking through the jungle, conducting on-camera interviews with Achuar men and women, and countless informal conversations with these people of the forest taught him that the Achuar, like many indigenous people all over the world, know something that we in the developed world do not. They know how to exist sustainably on the planet. More Making Change Happen related speakers here: www.ecospeakers.com
Brazil and the Amazon River Basin have been the subject and inspiration for my work for more than twenty-two years. Naturalistic forms resembling beehives, vertebrae, cocoons, anthills, plant forms and insects are spread across the surface of the work. The Amazon River is an apt metaphor for the act of churning up remembered objects and sights, gathered while traveling along its rough course. The work transcribes a memory of these objects and impressions of what was seen and felt. In its flow, the river boils an object to the surface only to swallow it up again to resurface later. My palette is often subdued beneath a layer of darkness, suggesting mystery. These impressions are a memory of the river bound on both sides by a high, dark jungle; foreboding and beautiful. When the jungle takes you in, it takes you in whole. Total length of drawing: 338ft
