If you wish to go a little lighter try the fiberglass or vinyl doors. The lightest is the aluminum door and they are still very secure. If you want great security you may want to see about a steel door. There are doors that have glass windows and those that have no windows at all. Wood is the most expensive door with steel coming in second. Aluminum is the lease expensive and you will find most people do have aluminum garage doors.
The first consideration that must be addressed when purchasing a new garage door is how it looks. You want it to be compatible with the way your house looks. Do you want to scrap and paint a wooden door or would you rather have a door that doesn’t need as much maintenance? Can you lift a heavy door or would you be better off with a lighter door.
