any one been married in sri lanka?
im getting married next year and i want to do something a little different than the usual Caribbean wedding.i am honeymooning in the maldives after and my travel agent suggested twin centres..this being sri lanka…ive never been and dont know much about this country and its traditions.i dont want anything over the top,something simple but different.any ideas or infomation would be greatfully recieved…
I think it would be quite challenging and stressful for you if you pursue to get married in a country of which you know nothing about. Have you tried looking for other surrounding places which are more familiar to you? At least, a place where you know somebody who’s gone there, so you can ask that person about the place?
But if you really insist,…well… I suggests you look for the Sri Lankan government website. Look for contact details of the department that’s in charge with legalizing marriages… you know, like their civil registry or something. Then try contacting that office and inquire about the requirements for foreigners who want to get married in their country. For the wedding itself, it would be really helpful to contact a local wedding planner, to help you out. Visit Sri Lankan wedding sites and find a reputable planner.
