Spring break is the time everyone wants to let lose and have fun. This does not mean you should start flashing cameras and acting crazy like we are use to seeing on TV. This year MTV Spring Break will take place in Acapulco, Mexico. Past years the music channel has moved down to Panama City Beach in Florida and even in Cancun, Mexico for the week. For those that have never watched MTV during Spring Break, it is a time that the entire station is transferred on location at a vacation destination.
Thousands of teens are recorded dancing to top bands and singers that come down for concerts. It is an event that is looked forward to every year. MTV Spring Break is a much anticipated event that happens every year for college students that are looking to have a great time.
MTV plans big for this event. There are fun contests, parties, dancing, concerts and much more. College students from all over travel each year to MTV’s Spring Break location. It is a great time that thousands look forward to every year. It doesn’t really matter if you are actually there or at home, you can experience the fun and excitement.
Since the beach front that they will be filming at is stretched with many hotels, there will be plenty of rooms for college students to stay. MTV will be staying in the Playa Suites hotel on the north side of the beach.
If you plan on attending, make sure you do not miss one of the scheduled concerts that MTV and the hotels will be having. About 40,000 people call Panama City home, according to the 2008 census. Located on the panhandle of northwest Florida, it is a popular destination for tourists. Sitting on St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, it is a great place to party.
With nearly 365 days of warm weather and sunshine, Panama City is a super place to raise a family. It is also an excellent tourist destination all year.
However, it is for its intense, fun-filled Spring Breaks that Panama City is best known.
It’s the one of the most popular locales for frenzied college kids on spring break from school ready to party and blow off steam from the pressure of classes and exams.
In fact, Panama City is home to the MTV/mtvU Spring Break. University students have been partying on Spring Break there since 2008 and will have yet another chance in 2010.
There are scores of hotels and motels to accommodate all the spring break partygoers. Still, it is highly recommended to make reservations early – six to twelve months in advance. Some of the accommodations are admittedly lacking in amenities, but if you’re young and full of beans, who cares, right?
There is alot to do during the day on Spring Break. There is the beach, of course. Miles and miles of beautiful beaches to swim, sunbathe, play volleyball, and mingle with the crowd.
Most people like to hang out at the public beaches, which can get very congested during this mad time. However, if crowds aren’t for you, there is St. Andrews State Park, which also has nice beaches. Of course, there is a small fee to go into the park, but it might be worth it to escape the crowds.
Close the main strip and its craziness is a happening water park named Shipwreck Island. Around $30 gets you inside, but you’ll want more to eat and drink inside because outside coolers and food are not allowed. And, regardless of age, there are plenty of rides for everyone.
For those who want to party at night, luck is on your side. There are many bars, restaurants, and nightclubs available.
Perhaps the most popular club is Club La Vela, which is reputed to be the largest nightclub in the country. It has several floors and countless themed rooms where parties are always in full force.
Other very popular clubs include Spinnaker and Hammerhead Fred’s. And then there’s the Boardwalk Beach Resort, located right on the beach and maybe the best place to see and be seen.
If you like shopping, there are plenty of shops and malls to be found all over Panama City Beach Spring Break, as well as more souvenir beach shops than you can visit.
A popular local attraction is Alvin’s Magic Mountain Mall. It resembles a cave and everything from beachwear to cheap souvenirs can be found there. As it’s Florida, an alligator display is quite the attraction, as well.
Though most students will enjoy Spring Break 2010 throughout the month of March, for some, it all starts February 15, 2010.
Locals get their small city back around April 10 of next year, when MTV’s Spring Break officially ends.
