Lake Sandoval in the Peruvian Rainforest

Join Mike, G, and Efraine for a glide across this beautiful oxbow lake that’s home to endangered giant river otters, red howler monkeys, macaws, anacondas, point-tailed palm creepers and side-neck turtles. On this trip you’ll see Brown Capuchin monkeys, turtles, jumping fish, tropical ducks and the Hoatzin, or stink bird, who smells like fresh manure! We did this trip with InkaTerra’s Reserva Amazonica. Pricey but recommended.

Relaxing in Grand Cayman is what it’s all about for Chris while he’s in the Caribbean. He takes in a little scuba diving and feeds giant stingrays at underwater Sting Ray City. He then visits the endangered Giant Sea Turtles at the Cayman Turtle Farm and sends postcards from HELL – a unique part of the island characterized by its sharp lava rock. Chris also talks calypso with Barefoot Man – a local legend. Finally, he finds time to eat at the local Taste of Grand Cayman food festival.

ZAKYNTHOS

Zakynthos is the third largest island of the Ionian Islands, and is an ideal place for those looking for quite relaxation. Its landscape is shaped by prolific plains, mild slopes and hills. The plains are covered with rich vegetation: olive, lime and grape plantations stretch across the land and rocky shores end in crystal clear waters on the western side of the island. The “Fragrant Island” has an area of 404 km 2 that can be divided into 4 different parts: the Laganasi Bay full of holiday resorts; the Vassilikos peninsula; the steep, rocky western parts with the “Blue Caves” and the north-eastern shore covered with pines and dotted with beaches from the city of Zakynothos to Agios Nikolaos. One of the main sights to see on Zakynthos is the Navagio Bay with the rusting smuggler ship resting majestically on its beach and of course, its protected turtles. Visitors to Zakynothos can also make a boat trip to Corfu and Kefalonia.
