During the last few years, a new generation of vacationers has been insisting on more from its hotels than before, and a new type of travel is rising in popularity.
This new wave of tourists wants more from a vacation than just sightseeing, and one of the answers to this need has been hotels and resorts specializing in yoga and/or wellness.
Wellness and Yoga Retreat Centers are becoming a great alternative throughout tropical climates like Costa Rica and Hawaii.
Costa Rica towns that focus on tourism, such as Montezuma or Santa Teresa in the southern Nicoya Peninsula, have a selection of locations to do yoga, and the hotels and retreat centers compete over who can provide the most spectacular space.
Retreat Centers such as Anamaya in Montezuma, Pranamar in Santa Teresa, or Bamboo YogaPlay in Dominical have gorgeous wood decks for doing Yoga, sometimes overlooking the ocean or jungle scenery. Such yoga shalas often look great in the photos, which help a hotel or yoga retreat to get guests, since so many base their travel decisions mostly on the photos they see online.
Yoga teachers from around the world have visited Costa Rica for retreats, and have been caught up in the enthusiasm for yoga here. Many are now working in hotels and resorts, or offering private yoga sessions on the beaches at luxury rental beach villas.
Because of all these new and skilled yoga teachers into Costa Rica, the tourist towns, such as Malpais now a variety of yoga options. While it’s not always the case, the men go surfing while the women do yoga.
Yoga is often part of a group of vacation hotels called Wellness Centers. Such sanctuaries offer their guests the ability not only to rest and relax, but to try eating a much healthier diet, participate in internal cleansing, try meditation, and learn about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
Participants in these wellness retreats return to their regular lives not only happier and healthier but with improved knowledge about their own bodies and will continue to live more healthfully after their trip is over.
Many of Costa Rica’s wellness retreats offer a program in detox, and that most often starts with a limited fast. There are many varieties, but often it includes nothing but some type of fruit or vegetable juice, and afterward a diet where new healthy food items are added every day, usually simple fruits and vegetables.
Colonic cleansing, massage, acupuncture, sauna, and other important treatments that focus on motivating the body to detoxify are a crucial part of the process. There are also some yoga positions that squeeze one’s internal organs and so help in cleansing the body.
Guests at these wellness centers report improvements such as having much more energy, more restful sleep, healthier skin and clearer eyes.
For those interested in traveling to Costa Rica in the near future, you might want to experience a wellness, yoga, or detox retreat for your personal needs. Like so many who have tried this before you, you’ll most likely go back to your life with major improvements in your health.
